A “Pegasus” horse my daughter affectionately named Leo came into our life two years ago and turned it upside down.

For only a dollar, my trainer took from me my strong, independent and protective black nobel percheron cross, Zeus, and replaced him with her husband’s “young but gentle” horse.

She calmly explained to me that my petite daughter would never be able to ride such a strong mighty soul as Zeus so she directed me to do the right thing and take Leo instead.

So incredibly trusting was I in the “professional trainer” that I barely blinked an eye, except for the hidden tears that flowed because I sacraficed the love of my life, Zeus.

So Leo came into our life. His registered name was Second Timothy, from the bible verse…he fought the great fight. Boy did I think that was the wrong reference for this needy, weak and insecure soul. Only later did I learn what that verse foreshadowed and just how spine tingling appropriate it would become.

From day one Leo looked to me to tell him he was ok. He kept saying, “but I can’t, I am not strong enough, I don’t fit in, they pick on me…even though I try so hard to be good enough.”

I never knew a horse could have such difficulty fitting into a herd. Within the first two weeks of his arrival he had almost died through colic, gotten his front leg stuck on the top rail of a 5 foot fence and later got his back leg stuck in the under the rails of the riding pen. His Pegusus nature was supported by his split blaze on his face. The upper part of the blaze didn’t connect to the lower part just as his connection to spirit didn’t quite translate down to his feet here on earth.

So what was he to teach me? Were his issues just a mirror of my own trappings? Had I literally sold my strenth and confidence and replaced it with my deepest woundings and trauma by exhanging Zeus for Leo?

Again I had let someone else tell me what to do instead of checking in with my own inner knowing on the subject. How many times in my 40 plus years had I let an “authority” figure tell me who I was and what I should do?

My abusive, authoritarian father and I clashed throughout my life, yet a part of me always laid in wait, secretly hoping he would tell me he accepted me, approved of me and I was special and good enough. I knew there was no coincidence that these were the same issues Leo was asking me to reinforce in him.

So over the next two years I took it slow with Leo. Supporting him to grow strong in mind, spirit and body. Gradually he put on weight and muscle. He established a sub-herd of “mistfit” characters within the larger herd. All the sick, old or rejected horses looked to him as leader. The scene reminded me of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Raindeer when Rudolph finely found acceptance on the Island of Misfits.

Leo eventually even got a girl friend, Baby. As he grew in skill, strength and confidence so did his relationship with Baby. (Even her name was a metiphore for healing the young parts of ourself that lay waiting for someone else’s approval.)

After 1 ½ years of careful “rehab”, the new Leo was unrecognizable from the old. My daughter was learning dressage and even jumping him.

However the turning point came when Leo entered his first event. Eventing is when a horse is asked to do dressage, cross country jumping as well as jumping in an arena. It is the equivalent of a human triathalon.

Leo was a star and got 4th place. The next show he got second place. It was like he had to enter the world and go against a challenge in order to find himself. In the same time period I finished my book and formalized the Mind Energy Body School of Transformation and its certification program.

We both were working our edges in the world and winning! I was no longer afraid to come out with a nontraditional psycotheraputic orientation that combined the energy of consciousness, spirit and body with the more traditional mental health system’s cognative therapies. And Leo too had come out of his shell. His “misfit herd” was now integrated into the larger herd and he was one of the leaders.

All the while I kept in the back of my mind the words of his registered name’s reference… he fought the great fight. So by the end of the show season when I began to notice something not quite right with him, I was deeply worried. Had he gone as far as he could? Had I gone as far as I can? My trainer suggested I get him checked out. So I took him to the best vet in town, Dr. Story.

My husband came with me for moral support. Because I read energy fields, I knew Dr. Story immediately saw something terribly wrong even though she wouldn’t say anything. But what?

Maybe if I make excuses for why he is so clumsy and funny with his legs and call him Pegusus she will look elsewhere. “I joked, he just doesn’t always know where his legs are, but he jumps like the wind!”

Two thousand dollars later and a battery of x-rays it was all I could do to talk through the sobs. “Are you sure? It can’t be! There must be some way to overcome this.” All Dr. Story could say was the truth, as kindly as she could.

Leo’s 6th and 7th cervical vertibre were compressing on his spinal cord and creating a miscommunication. He really didn’t know where his legs were. Apparently he had been living with this condition since he was born. The Dr. explained that soon he would begin to fall, eventually his spine would collapse and we would have to put him down. The words, “he should never be ridden again” echoed in my ears.

So this was his real fight. A fight for his life and I would be there every step of the way to help him. I found him a great home where I can still use him as a psychotherapy horse and he keeps a young woman company as her unending source of unconditional love and kindness. He is sound, strong and happy.

So many lessons Leo and Zeus taught me. They helped me heal more deeply my wounded and young parts that kept yelling out for some other “authority” to tell me who I am and what I should do. And they gave me unconditional love and support so I had the courage to break the old unhealthy patterns and bring my work out into the world.

Practice the following meditation and find your own self-value and self-authority in the world by connecting to your true self, source, god-self. Use the word that works best for you. I call it my Core Being. It became part of my new book, Explorer’s Mind-A Map to Freedom.

CORE BEING CONNECTION MEDITATION FOSTERS PRESENCE
(Practice every moment of every day)

Part I
Ground deeply into your body. You can do 10 jumping jacks, or any movements—such as dancing to music—to balance and charge your energy field. Imagine your energy balanced front to back, top to bottom, and left to right. For instance, imagine feeling the sensation of warmth, tingles and flows equally in the top of your body as the bottom, the front, as the back, the left-side as the right-side. Once you feel more connected and balanced, place your awareness on the Core Being energy vortex located 1½ inches above your belly button, in the center/core of your body.

Part II
Imagine a ball of energy the size of a dime glowing with your unique essence. To the extent possible, notice its color, light, sensation, image, smell, taste, and sound. Breathe deeply into that space, and imagine the glowing ball of your unique essence expanding to the size of a tennis ball. Just as a balloon expands, imagine the energy of your Core Being increasing in size. Once again, spend time breathing into its center, feeling its sensation. It is the conduit for the divine source of you. Sense it, know it, and intuit it.

Part III
If you want, place your hands on the Core Being area to help it charge and expand. The sensation of it often feels like tingles of wholeness. Begin to feel your wholeness. Melt into the center of your Core Being again, and this time let it expand further—to the size of a volley ball. Imagine it front and back, top and bottom, left and right. With every in-breath, go back to the center of the energy ball. With every out-breath, expand outward until this sphere of light fills your physical body and your outer energy field, an egg-shaped zone of energy extending about 2.5 feet from the body (see Chapter on Energy Fields).

Part IV
As you anchor into your center during the in-breaths, you may notice negative emotions. You can expand through these outwardly to connect to your Core Being. With every in-breath, go back to the center of your light. With every out-breath, expand further until your light fills all the cells in your entire body and your outer energy egg. Remember, always to return to the center to let your Core Being expand out. Just as an atom splits open and discharges energy, going into your center splits open more of your Core Being and lets it expand outward.

IF ENERGY IS CONSCIOUSNESS Then…
How can we use energy to align and actualize our New Year’s Resolutions?

At this time of year, many of us review the past year and realign to welcome the New Year. We often do this by setting New Year’s Resolutions. I hope the following 2011 New Year’s Meditation is supportive in helping you achieve your goals.

Step 1: Think of your first New Year’s Resolution. Since it is INTENTION that moves energy, see your resolution as an intention.

Step 2: Now feel that intention as a sensation of energy in the body (warmth, tingles, flows…etc.). Begin to feel it first in your soul seat, or high heart. It is located in the center of the chest, just above the heart chakra.

Step 3: Melt into that sensation and let it spread Front/Back; Left/Right; Top/Bottom. If you are having trouble feeling the energy of the resolution then you can do 12 jumping jacks. The energy charge from the jumping jacks will help charge your intention.

Step 4: Once you feel/imagine/visualize the sensation of the energy of it spread througout your body, then visualize your intention already complete and successful. Then, feel the energy of that visualization come through the top of your head and let it fill the central channel. The central channel is about .5-2 inches in diameter from the top of your head, through the center of your body (like a tube) and it runs out your perineum, into the ground.

Let it fill your central channel like sand fills an hour glass. Then let the visualization go. Just like the butterfly, if it is yours, it will surely return back to you!

REPEAT FOR EACH NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION

TIPS: It is best to do this when you are standing so that more energy runs through your body. If you can’t feel any sensations, then run in place, bounce on a ball or do some sort of exercise to charge your field. Also feel free to call for support. LOVE AND BLESSINGS IN THE NEW YEAR!

Take a moment to consider who you believe yourself to be and what defines you in the world.

Just like a leaf blows in the wind, our sense of self can be defined by the circumstances that surround us. This can make it very difficult to feel whole in times of difficulty. The holidays for many of us can be quite stressful. It is a nice time to remind ourselves that the emotional triggers and negative feelings about ourselves don’t have to define us. Instead, they can be fuel to use to reconnect us to our wholeness.

I find that triumph is found not from our successes, but from anchoring into our Core Being (Source/God Self). Explore the following questions. Then let the healing meditation help you anchor back to wholeness.

Are you defined by the roles you play in life? (Mother, Career, Heritage, Your Last Conversation with a friend, the opinion of your parents or boss?)

Maybe You Define Yourself By Your Thoughts? (“I did that well.” “I don’t like how I look. ” I will never succeed.” “It is my fault.” “She likes me.” “He hates me.”

Or Do You Define Yourself By How Others Treat You. (He was mean. She didn’t understand me. She ignored me. He was rude. She cut me off in the car.)

Does Your Career Define You? (If so, what if you lose your job. Who are you then?)

———–
As we redefine ourselves by anchoring into Source (Core Being/God Self)
we free ourselves from our programming. We open to see the deeper truth. As a result we are ore able to grow, expand and feel whole.
——–

Let me know if/how the Following Meditation Helps you Remember to Define Your Self By Your Wholeness and not the Holes In Your Life!

Step 1: Write a List of Who You are At the Core Being Level. Core Being is synonymous with Source, God Self, Spirit. Find the name that works for you. In Me-B Transformation we call it our Core Being. (Ask a Mind Energy Body Guide, therapist , healer or friend to help you.)

Step 2: Write a list of what define you. The questions above can help you come up with answers. (Ask a Mind Energy Body Guide, therapist , healer or friend to help you.)

Step 3: Consider that we all are a work in progress and that at the Core Being Level we all are whole. We are just learning to return to our wholeness and remember.

Step 4: Now, review Step 2 and make a holiday/New Years Intention to release those definitions of you. Any time you think or feel Yourself Be Defined By Step 2 imagine that energy leaving your mind, energy and body systems.

Then Imagine yourself connecting to the positive alternative . (Review what you wrote in Step I for support.

Lastly, notice how you can change your actions so as not to feed the negative alignments that exacerbate your tendency to defined yourself by what you listed in Step 2.

Did you know that by the time your Mamogram locates cancer, it has been growing in your body for at about 8 years?

Last month was Breast Cancer Awareness month. Throughout the month there was much talk about the need for self-breast exams and Mammograms. Unfortunately I heard nothing about breast tissue health.

Did you know that we all (men and woman) have much we can do to foster tissue/cell health? Did you know that the environment we live in affects our health and the environment our cells live in affects their health?

So wouldn’t it be nice if we were educated on prevention instead of just finding the disease after it has spread to a chronic level? I am lucky enough that this is my profession and feel I know how to foster a healthy environment in my life and in the life of my cells. I mirror this knowing and empowerment to my children.

“Yet when we live in a culture of pills and cut out the illness after it grows, I am reminded of the paradigm change needed in our health care system.”

The article below by Dr. Chrintine Northrup, MD speaks to me and my empowerment on this issue.

WHAT WE ALL NEED!

1. You can learn to be so aware that you can energetically identify illness in your Auric Energy field-before it reaches the physical level. It is much easier to heal an illness before it manifests in the body.

2. Get a thermogram. It is a non-invasive procedure that uses heat to identify the health of your tissues. I is not covered by most insurance carriers but it is a very cost effective self-assessment. The higher temptures in our body can highlight potential disease process.

3. Let your inner knowing guide you. It can design your health, exercise and eating plan. Right now take 5 min. to center yourself. Put pen, computer, or tape recorder in front of you. Connect into your core wholeness and imaging connecting to the inner knowing voice. Breath and feel sensations/flows/joy in the body. Then ask yourself the following questions.

“What am I doing to support my health?

“What do I currently (eat, exercise, think, believe, feel) that supports me?”

“What about my sleep patterns can I continue that supports me.”

“How do I continue doing more of what supports me?”

“What do I need to change so I support tissue/cell health.”

Below is the re-print of Dr. Christiane Northrup’s arcticle.

EVERY YEAR WHEN BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH (October) comes around I am saddened and surprised that thermography hasn’t become more popular. Part of this is my mindset. I’d rather focus on breast health and ways to prevent breast cancer
at the cellular level than put the emphasis on testing and retesting until you finally do find something to poke, prod, cut out, or radiate. I understand that mammography has been the gold standard for years. Doctors are the most familiar with this test, and many believe that a mammogram is the best test for detecting breast cancer early. But it’s not. Studies show that a thermogram identifies precancerous or cancerous cells earlier, produces unambiguous results (which cuts down on additional testing), and doesn’t hurt the body. Isn’t this what women really want?

I recently discussed thermography with my colleague Philip Getson, D.O. Dr. Getson has been a medical thermographer since 1982. As you may know, thermography is a form of thermal (infrared) imaging. Dr. Getson explains how thermography works this way, “It is widely acknowledged that cancers, even in their earliest stages, need nutrients to maintain or
accelerate their growth. In order to facilitate this process, blood vessels are caused to remain open, inactive blood vessels are activated, and new ones are formed through a process known as neoangiogenesis. This vascular process causes an increase in surface temperature in the
affected regions, which can be viewed with infrared imaging cameras.

Additionally, the newly formed or activated blood vessels have a distinct appearance, which thermography can detect.” Heat is an indication that inflammation exists, and typically inflammation is present in precancerous and cancerous cells, too. (It’s also present in torn muscles and ligaments as well as arthritic joints, which thermography can also detect.) Thermography’s accuracy and reliability is remarkable, too.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s, a great deal of research was conducted on thermography. In 1981, Michel Gautherie, Ph.D.,and his colleagues reported on a ten-year study, which found that an abnormal thermogram was ten times more significant as a future risk indicator for breast cancer than having a history of breast cancer in your family.

Early Detection
The most promising aspect of thermography is its ability to spot anomalies years before mammography. Using the same ten-year study data, researcher Dr. Getson adds, “Since thermal imaging detects changes at the cellular level, studies suggest that this test can detect
activity eight to ten years before any other test. This makes it unique in that it affords us the opportunity to view changes before the actual formation of the tumor. Studies have shown that by the time a tumor has grown to sufficient size to be detectable by physical examination
or mammography, it has in fact been growing for about seven years achieving more than twenty-five doublings of the malignant cell colony.

At 90 days there are two cells, at one year there are16 cells, and at five years there are 1,048,576 cells—an amount that is still undetectable by a mammogram. (At 8 years, there are almost 4 billion cells.)” Today, women are encouraged to get a mammogram, so they can find their breast cancer as early as possible. With thermography as your regular screening tool, it’s likely that you would have the opportunity to make adjustments to your diet, beliefs, and lifestyle to
transform your cells before they became cancerous. Talk about true prevention.

Clearer Results, Fewer Additional Tests
It seems like the world was set on it’s ear when, in November 2009, the United States Preventative Services Task Force said it recommended that women begin regular mammograms at 50 instead of 40 and that mammograms are needed every two years instead of annually between the ages of 50 and 74. Some women felt this was a way for the insurance
companies to save money, but I cheered these new guidelines. (For more information read

“The New Mammography Guidelines.”) The Task Force concluded that the risk of additional and unnecessary testing far outweighed the benefits of annual mammograms—and I couldn’t agree more. Ten years ago, Danish researchers Ole Olsen and Peter Gotzsche concluded, after
analyzing data from seven studies, that mammograms often led to needless treatments and were linked to a 20 percent increase in mastectomies, many of which were unnecessary. Dr.Getson expounded, “According to the 1998 Merck Manual, for every case of breast cancer
diagnosed each year, five to ten women will undergo a painful breast biopsy. This means that if a woman has an annual mammogram for ten years, she has a 50 percent chance of having a breast biopsy.”

Thermography is a particularly good choice for younger breasts, which tend to be denser. It doesn’t identify fibrocystic tissue, breast implants, or scars as needing further investigation. It’s also good at detecting changes in the cells in the arm pit area, an area that mammography isn’t always good at screening. Perhaps even more exciting is that a thermogram can help a woman diagnosed with ductal carconoma in situ (DCIS) decide, along with her health practitioners, whether she requires aggressive or conservative treatment. If you’ve ever had an unnecessary biopsy or been scared by a false positive result on a mammogram, please consider getting a thermogram and using it in conjunction with the mammogram to figure out your treatment options.

It Doesn’t Hurt
It’s ironic that the test women are using for prevention may be causing the very problem they’re trying to avoid in the first place! Another reason the United States Preventative Services Task Force reversed its aggressive mammogram guidelines was because of the exposure to radiation. It’s well known that excessive doses of radiation can increase your risk of cancer. And this doesn’t even touch on the harm done to the body from unnecessary biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, chemotherapy, radiation treatment, and so forth.

Thermography is very safe—it’s even safe for pregnant and nursing women! It’s merely an image of the heat of your body. Unlike a mammogram, a thermogram doesn’t hurt! Just about everyone who’s ever had a mammogram has complained about how painful it is. The first time you get a mammogram can be quite a shock. Who knew a breast could be flattened like that? Well, the pain isn’t in your imagination. The pressure that the mammogram machine puts on each breast when it’s being compressed is equivalent to putting a 50 pound weight on your breast.

The Best Test for You
As with anything, I suggest you let your inner guidance help you in all decisions about your health. If you feel it’s best to get an annual mammogram, then by all means continue with them. Just be aware of the drawbacks and risks associated with the test. One helpful way to
assess your risk for breast cancer—which in turn can help you decide how often you want to have mammograms—is to use the National Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool, available online at www.cancer.gov/bcrisktool. After you answer seven simple
questions, it calculates both your risk of getting invasive breast cancer in the next five years as well as your lifetime risk, and it compares each to the risk for the average U.S. woman of
the same age and race or ethnicity.
You would be surprised by how many women tell me their doctors make them feel guilty for not having a mammogram. Women who just know they have healthy breasts. Don’t be intimidated if you prefer to forgo annual mammography. Thermography is a better technology for all the reasons I’ve already described. Plus it gives results that are unique to you, time after time. But there are some things to be wary of.

Dr. Getson explains, “To be sure, not all thermographic equipment is the same, nor is every center backed by qualified, board-certified physicians who are specifically trained in the interpretation of these images.”

Women (and men) seeking to have infrared imaging should consider the following:

1. What is the “drift factor” in the apparatus? Anything over 0.2 degrees centigrade leads to poor reproducibility.

2. What are the credentials of the interpreting physician?

3. The room in which the study is performed should be free of outside light and the temperature should always be at 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit, with a proper cooling system in place.

4. Make sure the images are “stat”-ed or marked up for future comparison.

5. Ask if the studies are read on site or sent by e-mail to a distant interpreter.

6. Be sure that the physician is available to explain and discuss all findings. Instead of just screening for breast cancer, a thermogram can tell you how healthy your breasts are. It also has the potential to truly detect breast cell anomalies long before mammography can detect cancer, when done properly. This allows you to implement lifestyle
changes that can improve the health of your breasts proactively instead of waiting for a cancer diagnosis later. In honor of Breast Health Awareness month, I encourage you to check
out thermography for yourself and your loved ones.

The Me-B School of Transformation sponsors Horse Initiated Psychotherapy (HIP). HIP is the therapeutic process in which horses provide an unbiased reflection of our subconscious material so it can be brought to the light with gentleness and wisdom.

Our emotions and negative beliefs can cause us hardship. By interacting with horses, however, this material is revealed and, by using Mindfulness and subtle energy awareness, transformation then can take place. Anyone who has been involved in equine assisted therapy can attest to the magic that happens during these sessions.

Our therapy is unique because it works all three Mind, Energy and Body systems. Because horses are sensitive, they are excellent at interacting on the energetic levels. They replay our challenges to mirror back to us the lessons we need to learn. Exactly how do horses react to subtle energies? They can sense the pressure low vibrational energy creates on them and they respond to the release that is created by high vibrational energy.

We work holistically by using the Science of Mind, Energy, Body (Me-B) Transformation. This means we master cognitive understanding, and we rewire the brain and body’s physiology. Since energy is the medium that connects the mind with the body, we also help students and clients develop their natural intuitive and energetic awareness skills.

At pivotal points in our lives, it can feel like everything is falling apart, as if the sky itself is falling down. In these times, it is normal to feel alone, unloved and abandoned by God. We believe we must have done something terribly wrong to deserve this treatment.

I reassure you, you have done nothing wrong. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Every time it feels as if the sky is falling down, it means the Universe is supporting us to raise our consciousness and clean the items from our closets that no longer fit.

It is as if our higher self/God is giving us two thumbs up and a high-five, and saying, “You have grown out of your old ways. You are ready to move to a higher level.” So embrace this energetic nudge as a signal that you are about to shift the things in your life that no longer serve you.

However, this challenge can still feel overwhelming, like climbing Mt. Everest without oxygen. As a 49-year-old veteran of the “Sky is Falling Down” event, I now am better prepared to embrace this inevitable phase of my life with curiosity and joy.

Even so, in the last few weeks the “Sky Is Falling Down” event has pushed my edges to the max. Over the past month, a hand full of dramatic sky pieces have fallen my way, but two days ago, the last piece that fell has been one of the hardest.

My young champion event horse was diagnosed with a disorder and I must give him up. In one day, things went from seeing him as a champion competitor to having to ask myself, “how do I let him go and find the right new home where he can give love, play in a field and have only slight riding demands placed upon him?”

My heart broke. It seemed so unfair. It is one thing for the universe to deliver challenges to me, but not my innocent, kind and loving boy Leo. If only we could pick and choose which sky pieces fall our way and our loved ones’ ways.

5 TIPS TO TURN A FALLING SKY INTO A RAINBOW

Since we can’t pick what pieces fall our way, we can align to discover the gifts they can bring. So if everything that happens is “perfect” and is done for us, not to us, I must discover how my four-legged boy’s diagnosis contains a gift. Follow these tips to turn your “Sky is Falling Down” event into one of higher consciousness and grace.

TIP 1: DISCOVER THE GIFT

To find the gift, we must first be willing to look at what we may be pretending not to know. For instance, I took Leo to a vet because there was this inner intuition that something was wrong with him, despite his high level of performance. Take a moment to listen to your inner voice and see what intuition(s) you have been ignoring.

TIP 2: TAKE ACTION & RESPONSIBILITY

Follow the advice of your inner knowing and take direct action(s). My action was to get Leo checked out by one of the top vets in the country. There may be more than one action your inner knowing has been asking you to do.

Also, take personal responsibility. Know inside that a part of you has been asking for this change and you are ready for the challenge.

Don’t wait. Write down a list of actions you can take to follow your inner knowing. Usually, you must let go of something or accept something you don’t want to accept. It can be things, thoughts, beliefs and feelings about others and/or yourself. For instance:

What things, thoughts, beliefs, and negative feelings have you out grown?

What doesn’t work for you anymore?

What no longer fits in your life?

TIP 3: TRANSFORMATION of LVC into HVC

Notice how the things that don’t fit in our metaphorical closet actually create an energy drain and perpetuate lower vibrational consciousness (LVC). Quantum physics says everything is made up of particles of energy. Energy has high vibrations and low vibrations. If we hold onto the low vibrations we become stuck and can’t manifest change. If we cultivate high vibrational consciousness (HVC), we can take the energy of difficulty and transform it into positive manifestations, change and joy.

TIP 4: GRATITUDE

You know you found the gift of higher consciousness when you feel gratitude that a challenging event has happened. Only then do you know full inner transformation is complete. Sometimes this takes a week and sometime this takes a year. The length of time it takes to turn a falling piece of sky into a rainbow is not a litmus test of success. This is because deeper issues often take longer to transform. Make the commitment, regardless of the length of time it takes.

TIP 5: BECOME ANCHORED INTO CORE BEING, THE WHOLE YOU

You also know you have been successful when your old sense of self seems so limited to how you now feel about yourself. It is as if you didn’t really know who you were until you overcame this challenge, and climbed this metaphorical mountain. The “you” that now stands will seem so much more aligned and connected to the truth. You will be able to say, “I would never ask for time to turn back given the gifts I have received from overcoming this challenge.”

My healing center is located at my home and my daughter has let me know that it deeply inconveniences her 17-year-old flow. I worked hard to teach my kids to set boundaries and express their feelings. As a result, my daughter is strong and confident, yet her17-year-old attitude holds quite the energetic punch. Regardless of how hard she pushes, however, I stay strong, set boundaries and reminder her that the “entitled” attitude won’t serve her in our home or anywhere else.

So just when you think your kids don’t hear the advice and wisdom you share, they do something to let you know that more is absorbed than you may think. To my clients and students, I stress the importance of having a very loving but strong female head of household to keep the family emotionally healthy and aligned. I now see how true this is. As proof, here is what my daughter wrote for her college application:

“It took me eighteen years to realize what influence my mother has had on me. Even though she is not my biological mother, she has always been right by my side and my brother’s side. She is the kind of person who you can have a deep conversation with or to get advice from. Growing up with a spiritual therapist teaches you how to be calm in situations that might not always go the way it is supposed to. I developed many skills and enthusiasms from my mom that has helped through high school and life in general. Not only did she teach me to love the excitement to learn something new, but also to understand her idea of spirit, life, and love as well.

My mother’s love for learning came up when she traveled mainly. When my family took a trip to Nepal, my mother was the first one to buy the books on the history of the country and everything that was involved with the country. I remember trekking up the mountains in Nepal and my mother stopping us every minute to tell us about the plants or trees. We would travel to different Buddhist temples and my brother and I would stare up at what we thought was the oldest sculptures in the world. My mother would tell us stories about the temples and how the monks would live and pray in them. After exploring Nepal, my family decided to visit Thailand where we stayed in an old village and again my mom taught us everything we would ever wish to know about Thailand. When we got back to the States I remember telling all my friends about Nepal and Thailand and the different journeys we had while traveling through the foreign countries.

Through traveling to so many different places and learning about poverty, my mother decided it would be good for us start helping our community by volunteering at Rocky Mountain Therapeutic Riding Center. Volunteering at RMTRC was such a great experience for me. I saw and learned how just riding and caring for a horse could make a big difference in the kids’ lives. One boy, Mason, was pretty upset about having to come to RMTRC. I remember my mom pulling me aside and telling me to go talk to him. She told me to be caring, but at the same time to be excited to talk to him. When I did, Mason opened up and decided to give riding a try, which I was so happy to see. I discovered that just by having spirit you could make other people feel better.

Everything that my mom has done has always had a good and positive impact on me. While the experiences when traveling had been wonderful, I learned everything mainly from my mother. She has enriched my life with her passion for traveling and for learning. She is a woman with endless love and devotion to her kids and will always be one of the most important people in my life. ”

Everyone committed to creating joy, peace and harmony within must ask this question: how do I know what works best? Unfortunately, no single program can be right for every person. So what do we look for? What 5 key elements are needed for success in the approach you choose?

We all are so lucky to have many valuable and advanced self-help orientations. For instance, my colleges often ask me should I study EMDR, DBT, Brain Spotting, Gestalt or Somatic Experiencing? And what about subtle energy awareness do I need to know? In fact, there are so many wonderful orientations that it can be hard to know which one to pick. At one point, I found it overwhelming to decide what I should study next so I studied almost everything. Yet as a result, I found out what really works. Hopefully this 5-Element Approach will help provide a framework so you can better choose what to study and where to turn.

Element 1: Studies indicate that the choices we make and reactions we take throughout the day are really the result of deep neurological/physiological programming. To make long-term progress, choose an approach that adequately helps the brain neuro-network rewire to a more-healthy habituation.

Element 2: It is vital the approach helps you develop a self-identity that is very separate from your emotions, physical health and life challenges. Ask yourself: does the approach teach you to maintain strong self-compassion and numerous strategies to help you stay detached and differentiated from the emotional pain? If our identity is merged with the pain and there is no separation between who we think we are and the energy of the negative emotion/challenge we are facing, then positive change will be short lived. This is because the negative programming in our brain is reinforced when we don’t know who we are at the deeper level. In Me-B Transformation we call the energy of that deeper level of truth our Core Being.

Element 3: The approach should not foster what I call Spiritual Junk Food by making unrealistic claims of easy success. For instance, does it declare in only a few sessions you will never have a negative feeling or belief again? Or that it heals long-term symptoms of depression and anxiety in just three sessions? These claims are misleading and disempowering. As long as our midbrain/reptilian brain lives, we will have challenging emotions and life challenges. So we might as well develop the skills so even negative emotions and difficulties foster a deeper connection to our wholeness. We can learn to use them to help us transform back to wholeness. Don’t trust the ostrich with its head in the sand approach. The approach should happily acknowledge that we are never done. There will always be more light to accept and thus darkness to move through.

Element 4: Does it promote self-empowerment and independence from you? Is the intention of the orientation to help you so much that eventually you will not need them any more?

Element 5: Does it foster deep self-awareness and self-responsibility at the deepest levels? And does it help you reveal the subconscious mind? Most of the negative cycles that replay in life can only be overcome by being willing to reveal their painful subconscious roots.

Mind Energy Body Transformation is one orientation that embraces these five essential elements. In fact, here’s what some of our students have said about the training:

“I decided to take the Me-B training, because I wanted something more for myself and for my clients. I had been working under the assumption for years, both professionally and personally, that just being aware of and processing trauma and life struggles on a cognitive and body level was synonymous with healing. Me-B work introduced me to the concept of working through our pain and programmed personalities at a mind, energy, and body level and provided me with tools for transforming pain on all three levels to a deeper connection to wholeness and my own divine truth. During the training, I experienced profound shifts in all three systems and in my life. I have been able to assist myself and my clients at a level of healing I never thought possible. It has been a paradigm shift in my personal and professional life and has truly been the best thing I have ever done for myself and for my clients.” – Amy, LPC

“I felt guided to join the Mind Energy Body Certification program out of a deep desire to embrace and hone my healing gifts, and to utilize them via a spiritually-based career. When I learned of the depth, uniqueness, and variety that this training offered, I knew that this would be the perfect platform for me delve into my passions. Not only did the Me-B Certification program offer psychotherapeutic training, but also training in hands-on healing, as well as an abundance of techniques for shifting the mind, energy, and body systems in order to facilitate deep transformation. I was incredibly relieved to find that such a program existed, but never would I have guessed what a life-altering, powerfully transformative journey it would be! Not only did I strengthen professionally, but I also feel more empowered, confident, and in alignment with my authentic truth then I ever dreamed possible! Whereas before I found myself disempowered and collapsing into pain and old patterns, now I have tools to assist me moment to moment in deepening my connection to my authentic essence; my Core Being. I no longer consider myself a victim to ‘old programming,’ for now I am aware of my Choice Points and how I can engage my Enlightened Observer to help me to reprogram my mind, energy, and body systems. I am also now aware of how to utilize the power of intention in order to make choices that will align me with my Core Being rather than the painful Programmed Personality. Thanks to this AMAZING program, I am so grateful for the wealth of knowledge and invaluable tools that I can now use to support others and myself through the healing process!” – Sara, a healer and child care profession.

“The reason I decided to take the Me-B training was because, well, I felt called to do so. I had taken many trainings in the past, but this one felt different. It was like the Me-B training not only took all the trainings I had done previously and combined them into one, but it also took things a step further by incorporating energy. This was a huge shift for me, one that I knew was important yet had never been addressed in all the past trainings I had done. The Me-B training allowed me to integrate all that I had learned while deepening my work both personally and professionally. It has given me tools to help shift deep emotional pain and suffering while learning how to stay deeply connected to my divinity and innate wholeness. The ability to work on all three levels: the mind, energy and body has profoundly transformed my view of my personal and professional life. Carolyn is extremely talented and provides a training atmosphere filled with love, acceptance, safety and laughter.” – Julie, LPC

Wherever we go, there we are. We are the one constant in our lives. As we become more aware, we also become more empowered to create change and choice.

Quantum physics explains that everything is made up of particles of energy and that energy can resonate at high frequencies and low frequencies. If we can be aware enough to assess if our mind is vibrating at a high or low frequency it gives us power and choice.

So with awareness we can assess if our mind is supporting us in life or if it is holding low frequencies and could be clouding our perspective, and thus our ability to make positive life choices. In Reiki and other Hands on Energy work, we know that our hands bring healing energy into us but so does our mind. We can use both to eliminate emotional pain, depression, anxiety and illness.

In a FREE webinar on Tuesday, September 21, beginning at 7 pm, we will investigate the foundational aspects of Mind Energy Body Transformation. In addition, we will look at the first of five mindfulness steps taught in the 12 Class Me-B Certification Program and in our Awakening Monthly Support Groups.

An attendee from the same free webinar hosted on September 14 had this great feedback:

“Hi Carolyn! So pleased to have been able to catch this! I have read about mindfulness and mind chatter – yeah! I get that! I also like the higher-brain and lower-brain comparison. I have the feeling this is about reconfiguring our own neural net, by being mindful of our mind chatter, breaking the pattern, and redirecting our thoughts/energy to create a new healthy path, and allowing the old unhealthy one to fade from disuse. Just like a path in the woods. Gotta find out more about your book – you’ve been busy, haven’t you!”

Another student of mine noted, “Not knowing the power of the mind is like giving a loaded gun to a monkey. Imagine the damage we do to ourselves with our mind. Yet also imagine the potential!”

Warm regards and best wishes on your journey!
